Run and Finish the Race With Joy

Psalm 33:21 — For our hearts rejoice in Him, since we trust in His holy name.

Psalm 33 begins with the words “Rejoice in the Lord.” This psalm ends with the words, “For our hearts rejoice in Him.” In between these two statements, the psalmist tells us why our hearts should rejoice in the Lord. The Lord is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and the Lord is the Sovereign Ruler over all, who alone can save us.

The psalmist encourages us to place all our hope and all our trust in God. If we do this, the result is true joy. Anyone who puts all their hope and trust in God will not be disappointed. People who make Jesus Christ their hope of salvation will be so very glad—eternally glad—that they did. There is not one person in heaven today who regrets placing their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Heaven will be a place of much rejoicing. We will rejoice when we finally go home to heaven. It will be like the marathon runner who crosses the finish line with hands upraised and falls into the arms of those who are cheering. Instead of being exhausted, we will be filled with incredible strength and vitality greater than any we have experienced here on Earth. We will be quickened to celebrate with dancing and singing a new song unto the Lord!

Even now we can have our hearts be stirred with heavenly rejoicing when we surrender ourselves to the Savior, when we entrust everything to His holy name. There is joy in knowing Jesus and having Him rule our hearts and souls. The great Creator who became our Savior fills us with His fullness, and in Him we have fullness of His joy.

When I am suffering and have troubles, it is time to check my faith in God.

I am not struggling with anxiety and worries instead of trusting God's promises.

He never leaves me alone.

If there is a problem, he prepares a way out.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT

[13] The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

I put all my hope and trust in God.
