Today’s Reading: Philippians 1:19-26
Philippians 1:21 — For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
God promises confidence in difficult times. The apostle Paul lived confidently. Paul’s outlook on life was inspired by spiritual wisdom and his relationship with Jesus Christ.
Paul did not fear death, but looked forward to the moment he would die, since then He would be with Christ in heaven. Paul knew that He would be even closer to Jesus when he died.
Paul did not view suffering as something to be avoided, for he knew that anything he suffered served God’s greater purpose and that God would reward him if he endured suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Paul knew that he grew closer to Jesus in trials and tribulations.
Paul’s confidence was not in himself, but in his relationship with Christ his savior and keeper. Paul was convinced, sure, persuaded, and confident that nothing could ever separate him from the love of God that he experienced in his relationship with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Are you persuaded, sure, convinced, and confident that not one thing or even a thousand things could ever separate you from God’s love? Your sin has been dealt with at the cross and it will never sever your relationship with Jesus, though it may keep you from the experience of sweet fellowship with Him until you confess it and turn back to HIm.
For there is nothing more precious for us than a personal love relationship with Christ. Jesus Christ is our confidence as we face life each day. Christ overcame Satan, the world, death, sin, and the flesh, and we are in Him. Be confident in Jesus and His love for you today; you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“Paul did not view suffering as something to be avoided, ….”
I would not even try to avoid. That’s too heavy. Instead of letting that fill my mind and heart, let Him fill it. Just behold Him, look upon Him through the Word. Thank you, Jesus!
