Children of the Loving Father

Today’s Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-18

Romans 8:16 —  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

God promises to stand by His children. Are you one of God’s children? Have you been born again into God’s royal family through belief in Jesus Christ? The apostle Paul knew he was a child of God because the Holy Spirit testified to his human spirit that it was true.

People have a need to belong and be loved. We were created by God to be His beloved ones. God loves us and He wants us to know it. Jesus came to personally deliver God’s message of love to us. With every word and deed, Christ proclaimed the good news of God’s amazing grace for sinners like us.

The Son of God introduced God to us as His loving Father, a father who is willing to give everything to save the lost and make them His beloved sons and daughters. And Jesus also sent the promised Holy Spirit to us to assure us that we are loved and belong to God’s family forever.

“But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). By God’s will, we have the right to be children of God!

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are” (1 John 3:1). God takes care of His children. Paul wrote that the Lord stood by his side and gave him strength when all others had deserted him. And Paul was confident that the Lord would rescue him from every evil attack and bring him safely to God’s heavenly kingdom. O, how Father God loves us!
